Hotlines you must know as a foreigner in Japan during COVID-19 pandemic

Multilingual consultation services

It has been weeks since the coronavirus pandemic brought our lives to a halt, especially after the state-of-emergency declaration of Mr.Abe. According to our latest survey with many foreigners in Japan, their most concerned COVID-related problems now have boiled down to working conditions and healthcare supports that are available in multiple languages.

The AMDA Medical Information Center

The AMDA Medical Information Center - a nonprofit medical organisation, provides health consultation service in 8 different foreign languages.
> Hotline: 03-6233-9266
> Languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Thai, Spanish and Portuguese.
(English service can be accessed everyday while other languages are available on designated days).
> Business hours: 10am - 5pm (weekdays) and 10am - 3pm (weekends and holidays).

BUREAU OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND PUBLIC HEALTH

Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health - provides health consultation service in 3 different foreign languages.
> Hotline: 0570-550571  
> Languages: English, Chinese and Korean.
> Business hours: 9am - 9pm (weekdays, weekends, holidays)
> Consultations: prevention of infections and what to do if you have alarming symptons.

WORK CONDITION: TELEPHONE CONSULTATION SERVICE FOR FOREIGN WORKERS

You may call any of the following numbers in six languages to get advice on working conditions. When you call the Telephone Consultation Services for Foreign Workers, you will be charged 8.5 yen (incl. tax) per 3 minutes from landlines, or 10 yen (incl. tax) per 3 minutes from mobile phones.

> Hotline: Hotline numbers are different from support languages and are only available on designated days for each language. Please refer to the above picture.
> Business hours: 10am - 3pm
> Language: English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Burmese and Nepalese.
